Midday Prayer

Leader: Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship,

Together: for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord.

Psalm 89:15

Reader: So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Together: Our Father in heaven,

we pray that your name will always be kept holy.

We pray that your kingdom will come.

We pray that what you want will be done,

here on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us the food we need for each day.

Forgive the sins we have done,

just as we have forgiven those who did wrong to us.

& do not cause us to be tested;

but save us from the Evil One.

The kingdom is yours, the power is yours

& the glory is yours. Amen.

Lord Jesus, you have given yourself to us,

You walk alongside us and you know the path that lies before us.

Through your goodness and grace,

you provide belonging and hope, freedom and peace.

In knowing you, help us to share peace,

announce freedom, offer belonging and

declare the hope of life with you.

Amen.

Thought

The sin underneath all our sins is to trust the lie of the serpent that we cannot trust the love and grace of Christ and must take matters into our own hands.

Martin Luther

Leader: May you find peace in knowing God,

Joy in service his people, freedom in bringing Him praise,

And may you know the endless fondness of His love

In this hour and every hour
