Night Prayer

Surely there is a future,

and your hope will not be cut off.

Proverbs 23:18

We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield.

In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.

Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.

Psalm 33:20-22

Together: Our Father in heaven,

we pray that your name will always be kept holy.

We pray that your kingdom will come.

We pray that what you want will be done,

here on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us the food we need for each day.

Forgive the sins we have done,

just as we have forgiven those who did wrong to us.

& do not cause us to be tested;

but save us from the Evil One.

The kingdom is yours, the power is yours

& the glory is yours. Amen.

Father, in a world that stands in the shadow of pandemic, you will not stop working

Lord Jesus, in these moments of isolation, you will not be silent

Holy Spirit, in these times of distance, you have not stepped away from us

God of relationship, community and hope, breathe your love

into all of who we are, what we are and where we are – here and now.

Show us the signposts of your mission to the world around us

so that we may be what you call us to be.

May we be the body of Christ in the world that belongs to Christ. Amen.

Thought

My trust in God flows out of the experience of his loving me, day in and day out, whether the day is stormy or fair, whether I'm sick or in good health, whether I'm in a state of grace or disgrace. He comes to me where I live and loves me as I am.

Leader: No matter how cold the night, the Father is still present

No matter how black the darkness, Jesus is still the light

No matter how empty the space until the dawn,

the Spirit dwells in it

May this amazing God of Hope, Father Son & Holy Spirit, bless us now. Amen.
